Please briefly describe your current job:
I create content for weather.com and The Weather Channel app, including creating weather graphics for forecast videos, writing articles on current weather around the country, and shooting on-camera weather explainers for their social media platforms.
What is your favorite part of your current position:
My favorite part of my current position is that every day is unique. The different types of weather across the country keep us on our toes everyday, and I love the diversity of what we get to cover. It's so impactful getting to share what I am passionate about on a level that everyone can understand, prepare for, and act on.
How did your EAS education prepare you for your current job?:
My favorite thing about EAS was the close bond I was able to form with my classmates and teachers since the program is a bit smaller in size. By the time graduation rolled around, I felt like I had a tight-knit community in EAS of friends and professors I will keep up with for the rest of my life.
What do you wish you had known as an EAS undergraduate in order to land the job of your dreams?:
The wide variety of classes across the Earth and Atmospheric Sciences discipline helps me immensely in my field of work. We are often called on to explain phenomena that fall outside of meteorology in other environmentally adjacent fields, so having a background in the wide range of topics taught in the EAS program has been very beneficial.
