Please briefly describe your current job
I teach courses in geophysics and tectonics and conduct scientific research in marine seismology.
What is your favorite part of your current position
My job is to help students learn geophysical data analysis techniques, tackle challenging scientific problems, and explore new career opportunities. These activities are all fun!
How did your EAS education prepare you for your current job?
Learning about our planet and its history, and working with other scientists around the world. I also get to travel on sea-going research expeditions every few years. Georgia Tech's strong emphasis on mathematics, computation, and physics in the core undergraduate curriculum prepared me well for graduate school in geophysics. Several special topics courses within EAS had field trips to places like Greece and the American Southwest that drew me into the program.
