Please briefly describe your current job
I perform field work and data analysis related to our local seismic network as well as global earthquake and nuclear explosion monitoring research in the geophysics group.
What is your favorite part of your current position
I really enjoy and appreciate the variability in my day to day job duties from field work to participating in the range of projects and research spanning from data management to source physics, as well as having the freedom and encouragement to pursue external collaboration and independent research.
How did your EAS education prepare you for your current job?
The technical proficiency and background that Georgia Tech demands of its students has proven invaluable for my Master’s degree and every subsequent job. Furthermore, my five semesters of undergraduate research really gave me a head start in understanding how to effectively implement and communicate my technical knowledge in all of my post-undergraduate endeavors.
What do you wish you had known as an EAS undergraduate in order to land the job of your dreams?
Understand the range of industries and options for your degree helps in deciding what level of degree to acquire and how to supplement your education and training to be most appealing for the job(s) that interest you.
