What is your favorite part of your current position
I really like that I have an abundance of opportunities to teach and learn about environmental science and technology in my current position.
How did your EAS education prepare you for your current job?
The education I received during my time as an EAS student was foundational for my career as an environmental scientist and engineer. The training in fundamental quantitative skills, chemistry, and research, among other areas, have been vital for my progress in academia. Spending time doing research in Dr. Ellery Ingall’s lab was a particularly helpful experience to learn what scientific research is really about.
What do you wish you had known as an EAS undergraduate in order to land the job of your dreams?
If you go into an engineering career, consider what it [will] take to sit for the Engineering in Training exam. I have found that my EAS background prepared me well for my graduate degree in engineering, but having the formalities in place may have opened a few more doors for a career outside academia.
